Monica

Monica is Blue Kinabalu’s CEO and Director. She is a proud Sabahan and was initially educated in KK before moving to Taiwan to continue her studies where she gained her BA from the University of Taipei. Monica speaks six languages including English, Japanese, Malay, Mandarin, Hakka and Cantonese.

Monica has over 35 years experience in the travel industry promoting Japan where she spent the majority of her professional career and she is an expert in all things Japanese including language, history, culture and of course the best places to visit, eat and shop!

Over to Monica – “After spending many years overseas I wanted to come home to Sabah and start my own travel business and promote our lovely Sabah! Apart from encouraging visitors to Sabah via our Borneo Sabah tours my focus is on providing quality and fun overseas tours for Sabahans to visit Japan, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar and we will shortly expand our destinations to include Europe, USA, South America and Australia. My team and I pride ourselves on providing the highest levels of customer service to our guests and look forward to seeing you and meeting you either as a visitor to Sabah or on one of our outbound tours”.

Martin

Martin is Blue Kinabalu’s General Manager and is based in Blue Kinabalu’s Head Office in Kota Kinabalu. Martin’s hometown is Windsor, Berks and he spent 32 years and most of his professional career with British Airways working in a number of different management roles. Martin first visited Sabah in 2001 and has been coming back ever since and he married a local Sabahan in KK in 2003. When he is not working, Martin likes to spend time with family or riding his road bike (rather slowly!) up into the hills to the rainforest above KK.

Over to Martin: “From the first time I visited Sabah I fell in love with the place and have been coming back regularly ever since. The natural beauty, rainforest, wildlife, exoticness, climate and culinary delights are all wonderful reasons to visit or live in Sabah and the fulfilment of climbing to the summit of 14,000 feet Mount Kinabalu was immense. However, it’s the local welcoming and friendly Sabahans that make Sabah even more special.

“I have always loved to travel and have visited over 70 countries to date so after my career in the airline industry, it felt a very natural fit to be part of Blue Kinabalu and arranging tours within Sabah and meeting our guests. I want to share the passion I have for Sabah with you, your family and friends".
