Klias River Cruise & Fireflies Tour

Depart Kota Kinabalu 2pm and travel south overland to the small village of Klias near to Beaufort Town. The River Klias is beautiful and natural with pristine mangrove. Here you’ll enjoy two river cruises the first in daylight looking for wildlife including three species of monkeys (Proboscis, Long-Tailed Macaques and Silver-Leaf Monkeys) - the second after dark looking for fireflies which are beetles that communicate by pulsing light. You’ll be greeted by Hi-Tea on arrival and a local buffet dinner between the river cruises returning to Kota Kinabalu around 9:30pm.

Klias River Cruise & Fireflies Tour Sample Itinerary

1400 – Pick-Up from Kota Kinabalu (KK) city area hotel (two hours journey by road)
1600 – Greeted upon arrival at Klias with Hi Tea served (free-flow tea / coffee + local delicacies)
1650 – First River Cruise in search of Proboscis Monkeys and other wildlife animals
1815 – Enjoy local Malaysian cuisine buffet
1900 – Second River Cruise looking for fireflies (dependent on weather)
1930 – Depart Klias and return to KK
2130 - Arrive KK circa 2130 (dependent on traffic)
